Chris...Good for you for digging deep and getting to the core! This is where all of the gems are and where the answers spring from.

All entrepreneurs get in a rut at some point, generally because two things about our natures get ignored along the way...

#1 We are all social creatures in need of camaraderie, acceptance, purpose and a sharing of expression.
#2 We all must "create." Creative expression of all forms helps to open the veins of opportunityand keeps us engaged and excited.

Teachers, mentors, accountability partners, coaches play a very vital role in helping us to feel at our most alive...why? They keep #1 & #2 above in full motion at all times.

"Going it alone" is never the solution.

Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one that feels this way. Like so many things, it comes FIRST by being the RIGHT PERSON - connecting with the right people comes 2nd.

Chris,

What a great read and very true. I used to run a Mastermind group via Strategic Equity. Remember when we could be creative? I really miss the camaraderie, the sharing of challenges, and the trusting environment. Present a challenge and you had half dozen coaches on your side. Share a victory and you had a half dozen cheerleaders (no pom poms).

Too bad it disintegrated when the market did. I'm craving that again. Hmm. Food for thought. Thanks much!

Best Wishes

Very well put Chris. Ancillary benefit to this reader too. I've never been happier nor done as well as when I've been in a friendly, semi-competitive (accountable) environment where the impetus was not just numbers, but quality as well. Damn I miss that. Thanks for reminding me and I AM doing something about that right now.

Cheers

C to the I,

I feel the same way you do, although I dunno if I have ever articulated this on paper before. Some of us just work better in a team environment and others like to go lone wolf.

When I started Top of Mind six years ago, some of my friends thought I was nuts by giving equity to David Orsini. But I knew then that I was going to be asking him for more than an "employee" could likely deliver. Same thing goes for Sherwood Lawrence, my other partner here at Top of Mind.

Not only do those guys put their heart and soul into Top of Mind, they also provide critical guidance for me as a fellow owner.

Maybe your article was "for you" but I think it helped me as well - maybe just by knowing that others feel the same way I do when it comes to craving teamwork, and a willingness to share in the glory.
